Silence has always been my favourite thing. I know it’s strange coming from the guy whose life goal is to learn numerous instruments and constantly makes music. Silence is what keeps me sane, it’s always been what I’m about. Silence forces you to listen, observe and pay attention to things around you or even yourself. I convert that into my music often; I once heard that it’s the moments when you aren’t playing in a song that are as equally important as the moments when you are playing. That has been my journey, moving from only playing drums to now playing bass and piano, I get to see what the importance of silence looks like, and it has humbled me deeply.
I can often be silent and hold back my thoughts and opinions. It’s been something that I unfortunately carry with me, but when I’m behind an instrument or microphone, those are the moments when my voice gets heard and I feel most alive. My goal has always been to be the voice to the voiceless and let my music help someone in need. If it’s just one person, then I know I’ve done my job, music isn’t supposed to be selfish, it’s a unifying tool, and I intend to keep it that way.
